BIOGRAPHY

Rob Cerullo graduated in 2005 from the University of Richmond School of Law and is currently the Commonwealth Attorney for the County of Powhatan. Before coming to Powhatan in 2014 he was an Assistant Commonwealth Attorney in Henrico county for ten years.  He is a former judicial law clerk for Judge Henry E. Hudson, with the United States District Court in the eastern district of Virginia.  Prior to law school he was a veteran of the Chesterfield County Police Department.  Rob began his police career in 1993 as a patrol officer and was promoted to narcotics detective in 1996.  As a detective, he spent several years working undercover operations as both an undercover officer and undercover coordinator.  He has worked large-scale narcotics conspiracy investigations on both a state and federal level and spent several years supervising a Virginia State Police Task Force. He has taught constitutional law and narcotics investigation techniques to several jurisdictions in the Richmond metro area, including Chesterfield County, Henrico County, Richmond City and the Virginia State Police.  He also teaches an undergraduate level criminal evidence class for Virginia Commonwealth University.  His work has been published in Police Chief Magazine and mentioned in USA Today.   

He has been a certified therapy dog handler since 2021, and he and his partner “Olive” have been members of and certified by the American Therapy Dog Alliance since 2023.
