Research Interests 

Dr. Evans' research is centered on public and nonprofit policy analysis and program evaluation, focusing on social equity. Her work encompasses a broad spectrum, including initiatives to promote social equity and examining programs and policies to eliminate disparities in both the public and nonprofit sectors. 

Recent research projects were dedicated to equity research, evaluation, and design within Virginia's vaccination effort. Her research explores social equity, diversity, and inclusion in nonprofit organizations.

Biography

Lindsey L. Evans, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of public administration and policy at the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University. Her academic journey includes being an assistant professor of urban and public affairs at the University of Louisville. Before joining the faculty, Dr. Evans was a senior research associate on a multiyear grant project supported by the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research. This project focused on examining practices within African American-led nonprofit organizations that positively impact the life outcomes of at-risk youths. Additionally, she was a consulting research assistant with the MDRC Achieving the Dream Initiative, participating in large-scale evaluations.

In addition to her academic roles, Dr. Evans actively contributes to the field by serving as a board member for several sections within the American Society for Public Administration. Dr. Evans further engages in the scholarly community as a dedicated reviewer for various public administration and nonprofit journals, showcasing her commitment to advancing knowledge in these domains.

Dr. Evans holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration, a Master of Public Administration, and graduate certificates in geographic information systems and preparing future faculty from Virginia Commonwealth University. She earned her bachelor's degree in political science from Georgia College and State University.
