A select group of individuals will serve on an inaugural council to support the Wilder student experience.

The Wilder School Student Council met for the first time on April 26 during a session designed to familiarize participants with their new roles and responsibilities. These include working in conjunction with Wilder School administration, faculty and staff to provide input on a variety of issues of student concern.

“The Wilder School Student Council gives us a mechanism for gathering student feedback, provides guidance in enhancing school services and offers our students the opportunity to grow and develop as leaders,” said Shajuana Isom-Payne, director of the Office of Student Success.

“The creation of a council marks a significant step forward in branding ourselves across programs and in cultivating a unique sense of community among our students.”

The 20-member committee is comprised of undergraduate, graduate and doctoral representatives who were selected by faculty from each of the school’s academic programs earlier this semester. Members are appointed for a one-year term and are expected to attend a minimum of two meetings per semester.

Wilder School Student Council members will volunteer their time to develop projects that build community and identify new programming and professional development opportunities for students. They may also be asked to serve on various school or university-wide task forces or working groups as needed.

Members of the 2016-2017 Wilder School Student Council, their programs and levels of study include:
