Wilder School Presents Get in Gear Employer Series

Looking for hands-on experience and professional development before graduation? Take advantage of Get in Gear, a series of sessions designed to foster relationships between Wilder students and prospective employers. Join the Office of Student Success for four informative sessions held through Nov. 1. Sessions will feature job and internship opportunities in the public, private and non-profit sectors. Virginia Commonwealth University Police Department

VCU is home to one of the largest university police departments in the country, with 99 sworn officers, more than 200 security personnel, an on-campus dispatch center and an accredited training academy. The department includes the following divisions: Emergency Management, Investigations, Patrol Operations, Support Services, Administrative and Business Operations, Emergency Communications and Residential Security. The department offers internship and volunteer opportunities to undergraduate students, graduate students and select undergraduate program graduates. VCU Police was recently honored with two international awards for innovative practices from the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

 

National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA)

The NGA delivers world-class intelligence to policymakers, warfighters, intelligence professionals and first responders. Internship assignments feature hands-on experience complemented by a great deal of independent and team-oriented work under the guidance of a senior-level supervisor and mentors. Successful interns are invited to continue in the program for the duration of their degree programs, and may be granted conversion to permanent employment upon graduation.

 

Supreme Court of the United States POLICE

The Supreme Court of the United States Police is a small federal law enforcement agency headquartered in Washington, D.C., whose mission is to ensure the integrity of the constitutional mission of the U.S. Supreme Court by protecting its building, justices, employees, guests and visitors. Interns receive direct experience in policing crowds, visitor screening, aiding in investigations as well as a host of other administrative duties.

 

CANINE POTOMAC
Tuesday, Nov. 1

Potomac Canine provides an effective and environmentally friendly service to help control and eliminate pests on private and commercial property using specially trained animals. The area’s largest canine service company will present information regarding the impact of land planning for various sites based on the result of pests control approaches. Internship opportunities may involve planning proposals, budget allocation and reviews and direct field experience.
